At the AquaConSoil 2025 conference in Liège (Belgium), from 16 to 20 June 2025, the NINFA Project delivered a dynamic special session. The workshop walked participants through real-world case studies on groundwater-quality risk assessment—covering topics from saline intrusion and water scarcity to microplastics, heavy metals, hydrocarbons, PFAS and antibiotic-resistant genes. Funded by #HorizonEurope, the NINFA consortium showcased the practical science-driven solutions it is developing for each of these challenges.
Throughout the week, the project team also attended a range of inspiring talks from the wider soil-and-groundwater research community, adding fresh insights to their ongoing work.
Deltares coordinated the event with the main support from Annemieke Marsman, Romee van Dam, Imke Falkena and Hilde Passier. NINFA partners Yves Andres, Ahmed Abdelrady, Marco Petitta and Lazaros-Sai Sofikitis helped shape the session’s content and discussions.
